Our Review Of The Gunwerks Bipod
There are a lot of high-end bi-pods out there and I’ve been using the new and improved Gunwerks model for the last month. It is very simple to use, rock solid and extremely light at only 12 ounces.
It attaches to a pic rail without having to tighten any screws or levers, just push a button to rotate the head 90 degrees, set it in place on the pic rail and rotate back 90 degrees. There are no tension adjustments for the attachment, just a very simple and solid unit that comes on and off easier and quicker than any bi-pod I’ve ever used.
The legs rest parallel to the barrel in the forward position and easily drop down for use. One small button is used to widen the stance allowing for three separate splay positions, each leg independent of one another. This allows for a lot of positioning adjustment, especially on uneven ground. There is also a tension lever to loosen or tighten the force on the cant.
The two position leg extensions use a twist-lock design for the upper legs, while having spring loaded and notched lower legs with 12 detents for fine tuning.
For being so compact and light, this is a very solid unit which in it’s lowest position sits only 5” high, but still allows a max height of 19”. While being a bit cramped, it sits tall enough to shoot from the sitting position.
I’ve used Harris bi-pods pretty much my whole life, as well as Atlas and Accu-Tac. They have all been functional with some strong points as well as limitations. This Gunwerks bi-pod is the lightest, quickest to deploy, most adjustable and user friendly bi-pod I’ve ever used and will be sitting on my hunting rifle this year.
